Much of the philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine derived from Taoist philosophy, and reflects the classical Chinese belief that individual human experiences express causative principles effective in the environment at all scales. These causative principles, whether material, essential, or spiritual, correlate as the expression of the fates decreed by heaven

More than 4** traditional plant treatments for diabetes mellitus have been recorded, but only a small number of these have received scientific and medical evaluation to assess their efficacy. Traditional treatments have mostly disappeared in occidental societies, but some are prescribed by practitioners of alternative medicine or taken by patients as supplements to conventional therapy. However, plant remedies are the mainstay of treatment in underdeveloped regions. A hypoglycemic action from some treatments has been confirmed in animal models and non-insulin-dependent diabetic patients, and various hypoglycemic compounds have been identified. A botanical substitute for insulin seems unlikely, but traditional treatments may provide valuable clues for the development of new oral hypoglycemic agents and simple dietary adjuncts

Herbalism, also known as Medicinal Botany (a neologism by Dr.K.Seshagirirao, University of Hyderabad, India), herbal medicine, herbology, and phytotherapy, is a folk and traditional medicinal practice based on the use of plants and plant extracts. The bioinformatics related to this subject could be called as MedBotanics

Traditional Oriental Medicine is a truly holistic approach to serving an individual's need for wellness. For over 3,**0 years, treatment has been based upon the fundamental belief that there is a vital life force known as Qi (pronounced chee) Energy. Qi flows continuously through a subtle system of pathways, called meridians, that integrate and connect the internal organs and systems of the body. An obstuction in the movement of these meridians is like a dam that backs up the flow in one part of the body and obstucts it in others. When this energy flows in a balanced and harmonic fashion we experience good health. When disharmony and imbalance occur, our bodies and minds express illness.

Acupuncture is used to remove blockages of the Qi and to help build the immune system by stimulating specific points on the body with the use of hair-thin sterile disposable needles. This stimulates the body's own restorative and recuperative powers so that the natural state of balance and harmony that is commonly called good health can be restored. The modern scientific explanation is that needling the acupuncture points stimulating the body to release chemicals which either change theexperience of pain or trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones which influence the body's own internal regulating system. Most patients feel no discomfort and find the treatment relaxing both emotionally physically.

Herbal Medicine is an important and powerfully therapuetic part of the treatment. A specific recommendation may be in the form of tea, pills, powder or tincture. The use of herbs is backed by thousands of years of experience and modern day scientific research.

Oriental Medicine addresses the underlying problem, or root of imbalance, which is causing the discomfort. By working with the stresses of our busy lives, it can also be an excellent way to practice preventive medicine. The following are just a few of the many conditions it is known to help:

Common cold and flu, fatigue, allergies, stress, asthma, herpes, headaches, PMS and painful menses, back pain, prenatal and postpartum care, joint or muscle pain, PID, digestive problems, and menopause.
